Phat Farm

Phat Farm was created in 1992 by Russell Simmons, with an identity that combined hip-hop style and a preppy interpretation of classic fashion. It began as men’s urban clothing and later broadened into women’s and children’s fashion through the wider Phat Fashions business. In 1998, Phat Fashions shifted toward licensing while Simmons retained ownership; Kellwood Company completed its acquisition of Phat Fashions and Phat Licensing on February 3, 2004, in a transaction that included Phat Farm and Baby Phat. The brand entered fragrance through a 2000 licensing agreement with Stern Fragrances, followed by the debut of Phat Farm Premium in 2001. Phat Farm Atman, created in 2006 by perfumer Jean Claude Delville, is identified by Perfume Intelligence as the brand’s signature fragrance. The current official website identifies Phat Farm Holding Company LLC in its rights notice.
