Picasso
Picasso is a fragrance brand established in 1984, when Paloma Picasso launched her first perfume in partnership with L’Oréal. Its creative identity developed from Picasso’s work as a jewelry and fashion designer, with the fragrance bearing her name and artistic direction. That same year, Cosmair, L’Oréal’s U.S. agent, purchased Warner Cosmetics from Warner Communications; because Warner’s fragrance licenses included Paloma Picasso, the fragrance business transferred into the L’Oréal/Cosmair structure. By 2016, L’Oréal’s annual report listed Paloma Picasso among its L’Oréal Luxe brands. The brand’s documented fragrance identity centers on the eponymous 1984 perfume, presented as a fragrance for strong women, and Minotaure, launched in 1992 as its men’s fragrance. Composed by Michel Almairac, Minotaure received the first Fragrance Foundation France men’s award in 1993.
