Pineward Perfumes

Pineward Perfumes began in November 2020, founded by Nicholas Nilsson with the aim of creating scents that evoke being in the wild. Nilsson, who remains the brand’s owner and perfumer, traces Pineward’s character to a childhood connection with Colorado’s Rocky Mountains and an interest in rugged, pine-centered fragrances. He began experimenting with fragrance creation around 2017–2018 while studying materials for his Guide to Coniferous Fragrances. Pineward launched with Steading and Fanghorn and developed an olfactory identity centered on raw forest and conifer materials, especially pine and fir, while allowing room for non-coniferous compositions. In 2022, Nilsson purchased the Apoteker Tepe fragrance line from Holladay Saltz and worked with her to return the collection to production as a separate line associated with Pineward. Fanghorn remains a defining Pineward example, built around silver fir absolute and described as representing what the brand was founded on.
