Popy Moreni
Popy Moreni was the professional name of Italian-born designer Annalisa Moreni, who developed her career in Paris after studying fashion and costume design in Turin. She presented her first fashion collection in 1980. Her design language was theatrical and baroque, drawing repeatedly on commedia dell’arte imagery, including harlequin prints and Pierrot collars, while also reflecting the influence of abstract painters such as Jackson Pollock and Hans Hartung. The name was registered in the United States in 1985 for women’s clothing and perfumery-related goods. Moreni’s fragrance work began with a signature scent dated to 1996, followed by a second fragrance in 1997 and Cirque in 2000. The eponymous Popy Moreni fragrance is documented as a 1996 amber floral, with packaging attributed to Thierry de Baschmakoff; the wider line also included Popy Moreni de Fête and Le Cirque de Popy Moreni, with releases recorded through 2003.
