Project 1945

Project 1945 was established in 2021 through the initiative of Jeffrey, Garry Kusuma, and Janice Thio, and launched publicly in December of that year with Jeffrey identified as its founder. Its stated creative identity is to bring Indonesian history, culture, nature, and national identity into contemporary fragrance storytelling. The founders’ initial release comprised three Eau de Parfum fragrances—The Great Batavia, Sunset in Sumba, and Bambu Runcing—each connected to a distinct Indonesian historical, geographic, or cultural narrative. The brand’s development has included research into Indonesian raw materials and the histories associated with representative aromas, combining local and traditional elements with contemporary tastes. Princess of Java, inspired by R.A. Kartini and linked to ideas of women’s elegance, courage, and spirit, is described as one of the brand’s best-selling products. Waters of Maluku represents coastal life in Maluku and uses genuine Maluku clove. In 2024, Project 1945 released Petruk as part of the Legacy Collection by CJ x P1945, created in collaboration with Indonesian actor and film producer Chicco Jerikho.
