Providence Perfume Co
Providence Perfume Co was founded in 2009 by Charna Ethier after motherhood prompted a career transition. Before launching her own line, Ethier worked in publishing and at Aveda, where she created custom fragrance blends, then spent years learning and formulating. Based in a Pawtucket, Rhode Island studio, the brand makes natural botanical perfumes by hand in small batches from plants, flowers, fruits, and woods, using essential oils and absolutes. Its first fragrance, Ginger Lily, was offered for sale in 2009. Ethier remains the founder and principal creative figure, and later work includes Lapsang Lover and Irisqué, fragrances she has connected with experiences of nature from childhood and adulthood. In 2012, she was named Natural Perfumer of the Year; Providence Perfume Co’s fragrances have also received FiFi Award nominations.
