Fragrance house
Prudence Paris
Prudence Paris was founded in 2005 by Australian-born Prudence Kilgour, the house’s founder and perfumer. Before entering perfumery, Kilgour founded the silk-lingerie company Prudenzia after developing an interest in silk while living in Hong Kong. In Paris in 2003, she met florist Henri Moulie, an encounter that led her toward floral arts and fragrance creation, followed by perfumery study in Grasse. The house’s early identity centered on floral, particularly white-floral, compositions inspired by Kilgour’s childhood in Australia and her family garden. Its first fragrance, Prudence, launched in 2005 as a white-flower scent connected to the Prudenzia concept, and Kilgour calls it her signature perfume. Beyond its initial women’s fragrance, the house developed men’s fragrances, a girls’ line, and a pet fragrance; Steuart was introduced as its first men’s fragrance in 2008. The house first participated in Esxence in Milan in 2011, and its line launched in Moscow in 2012. Prudence Paris is family-owned and operated, with Kilgour continuing as perfumer.
