Puig

Founded in Barcelona in 1914 by Antonio Puig Castelló, Puig began in cosmetics and fragrance. The founder’s second generation joined the business in 1950, and three generations of the founding family guided its development. Its early fragrance history includes Agua Lavanda Puig, launched in 1940 and described as a landmark fragrance and Puig’s defining perfume. In 1968, Puig created the Paco Rabanne Parfums division in France and formed a partnership with Paco Rabanne; Calandre followed in 1969 as the first Paco Rabanne women’s perfume. Puig acquired the entire Paco Rabanne business in 1987 and the Nina Ricci fragrance and fashion business in 1998. Further acquisitions included Myrurgia in 2000, Perfumería Gal in 2001, and Penhaligon’s and L’Artisan Parfumeur in 2015, adding niche perfumery to its portfolio. Its public creative identity spans fragrance, fashion, makeup, and skincare, with an emphasis on creative partnerships, innovation, and long-term development. In 2024, Puig acquired a majority stake in Dr. Barbara Sturm and introduced a redesigned visual identity created with M/M (Paris). Rabanne’s 1 Million, launched in 2008, is identified as a worldwide success.
