Puredistance

Founded in 2002 by Jan Ewoud Vos, Puredistance was conceived around beauty and elegance expressed through purity and understatement. The brand developed its first perfume over five years: Annie Buzantian created Puredistance I in New York in 2006, and it launched in 2007. Vos directs the concepts, collaborating with perfumers who receive carte blanche, while the house’s creative identity centers on timeless beauty, understated elegance, purity, and perfumes developed as complete artistic concepts. Its “less is more” philosophy emphasizes a small, carefully developed collection and long-term continuity. By 2021, Puredistance had completed its Magnificent XII Collection, a twelve-perfume framework intended to remain limited to twelve works, with new creations replacing earlier entries and displaced perfumes moving to a private collection. Puredistance I, the first launch, is identified as the brand’s signature fragrance and as an expression of intimate, personal, understated elegance. Jan Ewoud Vos is the brand’s founder and owner, and Puredistance marked its twentieth anniversary in 2022. In 2025, it launched Divanché and Ysayo, created by Nathalie Feisthauer and Antoine Lie, respectively.
