Purplle

Founded in 2012 by Manish Taneja and Rahul Dash, Purplle began as an online beauty and personal-care retailer. Its founding rationale was to use e-commerce to improve access to quality beauty retail beyond India’s largest cities. Purplle developed from an online marketplace into an omnichannel beauty platform, bringing together third-party brands, private direct-to-consumer brands, and personalized online and offline shopping experiences. On December 16, 2021, it acquired cosmetics and skincare brand Faces Canada, expanding its owned-brand portfolio beyond its homegrown labels. In June 2022, Purplle became India’s 102nd unicorn after a funding round led by Paramark Ventures. In October 2024, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority led its Series F round, with Premji Invest increasing its stake and Sharrp Ventures joining the cap table. Its owned brands include Good Vibes, NY Bae, Purplle, Carmesi, and Faces Canada, while its marketplace also carries fragrances among other beauty categories.
