Quiksilver

Founded in 1969 in Torquay, Victoria, Australia, Quiksilver began when surfers Alan Green and John Law developed boardshorts for surfing. Its early designs emphasized movement and durability, establishing a function-first approach to surf apparel. The brand later broadened its boardriding identity into snowboarding and skating while retaining its connection to outdoor sports. In 2015, Quiksilver’s U.S. units filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and the subsequent restructuring placed ownership with an Oaktree-backed noteholder group; the parent company was later renamed Boardriders. In September 2023, Authentic Brands Group completed its acquisition of Boardriders, including Quiksilver, moving ownership of the brand to Authentic. Quiksilver’s recent development has also included an announced four-scent collection for men and women, scheduled for launch in the United States and Canada in early 2026, with a concept spanning coastal and alpine environments.
