Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren began in 1967 with a handmade neckwear line launched under the name Polo. The brand broadened into a lifestyle business, introducing a full women’s collection in 1972 and Ralph Lauren Home in 1983. Its public identity brings together an American lifestyle expressed through fashion, home furnishings, accessories, and fragrances, drawing on American sportswear, Western imagery, and English-influenced country-club style. That language also shaped its cultural presence: in 1974, Ralph Lauren supplied the menswear for The Great Gatsby, including the pink suit worn by Robert Redford’s Jay Gatsby. Ralph Lauren Corporation became publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange in 1997. Fragrances joined the brand’s offer in 1978 with Lauren for women and Polo for men. The Polo family remains its clearest fragrance signature, with Polo Eau de Toilette dating to that debut and recognized as a classic best-selling American fragrance and iconic men’s scent.
