Fragrance house
Ramon Monegal
Based in Barcelona, Ramon Monegal released the first collection of his eponymous perfume house in 2009, after deciding in 2007 to place his own name on a fragrance brand. The house is led creatively by Ramón Monegal, a fourth-generation perfumer whose family established Myrurgia in 1916. He began his perfumery training in 1972 and later studied in Geneva, Grasse, and Paris. Before founding his own house, he created fragrances for several decades, including a first successful fragrance for Myrurgia in 1979. Ramon Monegal’s creative identity translates literature into perfume, connecting words, phrases, and stories with notes, chords, and compositions. Its signature bottle, designed as an old-fashioned inkwell, reflects that literary inspiration. The current Katharsis project combines Monegal’s fragrances with the visual work of artist Miguel Caravaca. Among its fragrance projects, Entre naranjos was created for Monegal’s fiftieth birthday after inspiration from Antonio Machado’s poetry, while Fiesta commemorated Myrurgia’s centenary.
