Raphael

Raphaël was established by Raphaël Lopez at 3 avenue George V in Paris in 1930. Alongside its fragrance activities, the name was associated with a Paris couture house under Rafael Lopez Cebrian, whose atelier was located at the same address; the couture house ceased activities at the end of the 1950s, and Hubert de Givenchy opened his couture house there in 1959. Réplique, identified as the house’s signature fragrance, was recorded as launching in 1936; its 1944 edition was described as an oriental parfum, followed by a U.S. launch in 1946 and distribution through Parfums Marcy. Raphaël also produced Plaisir, credited to perfumer Pierre Blaizot. In 1966, Revlon acquired U.S. Vitamin & Pharmaceutical Corporation, including Parfums Raphael SA and its U.S. distributor, Parfums Marcy Inc.
