Fragrance house
Raphael Paris
Raphael Paris was established by Raphaël Lopez at 3 Avenue George V in Paris in 1930. Documented as a Paris fashion house, it later developed a perfume business, while Lopez continued creating designs through the 1950s; its logo was designed by Marty, and Parfums Marcy distributed the brand in the United States. In February 1966, Revlon’s French subsidiary, Parfums Pierre Balmain SA, acquired control of Société des Parfums Raphael. A 1969 report recorded Revlon’s rationalization of its Balmain and Raphael interests and plans for further integration of its French cosmetics and perfume operations. Raphael’s signature fragrance, Réplique, launched in 1936 and had a United States launch in 1946; it is classified as an oriental fragrance built around citrus, spice, floral, moss, amber, vetiver, and musk accords.
