Recreation Beauty was founded in 2019 by Nedahl Stelio after more than two years of development, with its origins in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Australia. Stelio began the project after moving away from conventional beauty products and searching for a natural luxury perfume. Her background as a beauty and fashion magazine editor, including roles at Cleo and Cosmopolitan, shaped the brand’s creative direction. Recreation’s public identity draws on the natural world and Bondi Beach, with mood- and emotion-led fragrance storytelling and products described as vegan, cruelty-free and sustainably oriented. Its first fragrance, Sun-Kissed, was developed to evoke the warmth of year-round holidays and life at Bondi Beach. In 2019, Sun-Kissed was among Marie Claire Australia’s 11 Best Fragrance finalists, while Recreation’s natural-fragrance branding and packaging received a Silver award in the European Product Design Awards.
