Reebok
Reebok traces its roots to 1895, when Joseph William Foster developed spiked athletic shoes in Bolton, England. In 1958, Foster’s grandsons Joseph and Jeff established the Reebok company and adopted its name. Paul Fireman acquired the brand’s North American sales rights in 1979 and bought the international company in 1984, shifting control from the Foster family to Fireman and Stephen Rubin. The 1982 Freestyle extended Reebok’s reach from traditional running footwear into women’s aerobics and broader fitness culture, while the Pump system, introduced in 1989 for adjustable-fit basketball shoes, expressed the brand’s emphasis on product innovation. In 1992, Reebok separated its performance and lifestyle businesses through the Vector logo and Reebok Classic line. adidas completed its sale of Reebok to Authentic Brands Group on February 28, 2022. Reebok now presents a fitness-rooted identity spanning athletic footwear, sport, sneaker culture, performance apparel, and lifestyle collaborations.
