Rene Furterer
René Furterer’s identity centers on the principle that beautiful hair depends on a healthy scalp. In 1957, René Furterer created etheirology, a method he practiced through his first hair spa in Paris. The approach follows a three-stage routine—Prepare, Cleanse/Wash, and Treat—guided by scalp and hair analysis and combining massage, essential oils, and plant-derived ingredients. It brings together hairdressing expertise with botanical care. Created that same year, Complexe 5 is an essential-oil treatment described as the core of the brand and a first step in its care routines. René Furterer joined Pierre Fabre in the late 1970s and is now part of the group’s brand portfolio. Pierre Fabre’s ownership structure later changed through the Pierre Fabre Foundation: the founder donated most shares to the Foundation in 2008 and completed the transfer in 2013; the Foundation is now the group’s majority shareholder.
