Reuzel
Reuzel was created in Rotterdam by barbers Leen and Bertus, who opened the Schorem Haarsnijder & Barbier barbershop there in 2011. They developed pomades for the rock-and-roll, punk, and counterculture scene because they wanted a styling product that matched the standard of their barbering work. The brand’s creative identity draws on traditional barbering, music, skateboarding, Kustom Kulture, and related subcultures. Its early Red and Green pomades were successful, leading to a broader hair-styling and care line. The name Reuzel comes from the Dutch word for lard, recalling lard’s historical use in pomades, while its pig logo commemorates that history. A 2015 Japanese launch announcement presented Reuzel Pomade as Schorem’s original pomade and linked it to historical lard-and-apple pomades. Trademark records give March 2014 as the brand’s first use, list Reuzel, Inc. as the current registrant, record an ownership-assignment update in October 2016, and give April 2017 as the U.S. registration date.
