Richard James
Founded on Savile Row in 1992 by designer Richard James and Sean Dixon, Richard James set out to combine classic, well-crafted menswear with experimentation in colour, cut and design. The house formed part of Savile Row’s early-1990s “new wave,” bringing a more contemporary approach to bespoke tailoring through slimmer silhouettes and bolder fabrics and colours. It was named Menswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2001 and became a founding member of the Savile Row Bespoke Association in 2004. In 2017, James and Dixon sold a majority stake in the business to US property investor Charles S. Cohen, while retaining minority stakes. The brand entered fragrance in 2003 with Savile Row, created with perfumer Yves Cassar. Described as Richard James’s signature scent, it has a masculine-floral profile centred on tuberose.
