Rick Owens

Rick Owens launched his namesake label in Los Angeles in 1994. Its early identity took shape around mostly black clothing, distressed leather, and Owens’s “glunge” blend of glamour and grunge. In 2001, growing demand led to a partnership with Elsa Lanzo and Luca Ruggeri, while Michèle Lamy became associated with the brand’s creative and entrepreneurial development as Owens’s co-founding partner. Owens moved to Paris in 2003 after becoming artistic director of Revillon while continuing to build his own line. The brand remains independent, and its milestones include the 2017 CFDA Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2025 Palais Galliera exhibition Rick Owens, Temple of Love, the first Paris exhibition dedicated to his work. Its fragrance output includes Lamyland Perfume, a limited edition of 1,000 described as a creation of the Lamyland tribe and its travels.
