Riya

Riya was founded in Kolkata in 1997 by N.K. Daga and L.K. Soni. After its Odisha facility was destroyed by the 1999 cyclone, the business restarted in Delhi in 2000 and temporarily traded perfumes sourced from third-party manufacturers. Its early portfolio included Bindas, Melody, Born Rich, Bawri, Jako and Poizo, helping establish a presence in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The brand’s development also encompassed deodorants, room fresheners, attars, roll-ons and air fresheners. In 2019, Aditya Vikram Daga joined the family business and restructured it through Purpos Planet; the company officially rebranded in 2020 and was incorporated in 2021 as it diversified beyond fragrances. From 25 November 2021, Purpos Planet has been the licensed user of the RIYA trademark. A new RIYA identity and logo followed in 2023, while House of RIYA introduced a higher-positioned fragrance segment in 2024. Melody, introduced between 2001 and 2004, was later extended to talcum powder in 2023.
