Robert Piguet

Robert Piguet was born in 1898 in Yverdon, Switzerland, and moved to Paris as a teenager to study fashion at Redfern and Poiret. He opened his own atelier on Rue du Cirque in 1933 and established the House of Robert Piguet at the Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées in 1938. The couture house trained or employed Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Balmain, Marc Bohan, and James Galanos. It operated for about 18 years before closing in 1951, after which the Robert Piguet name became associated primarily with fragrance. Piguet died in 1953, while fragrances continued to be issued under his name. Fashion Fragrances & Cosmetics, Ltd. is the parent company and legal owner of the Robert Piguet and Robert Piguet Parfums trademarks and trade names. Germaine Cellier was the perfumer behind Bandit and Fracas. Bandit appeared in 1944 with a green, leathery chypre character, while Fracas was created in 1948 as a game-changing tuberose fragrance and entered the Fragrance Foundation’s 2006 Women’s Fragrance Hall of Fame.
