Roccobarocco
Roccobarocco’s story begins with designer Rocco Barocco, who moved to Rome in 1962 and worked in the ateliers of Patrick de Barentzen and Giles. In 1964, he began a collaboration with Giles that lasted about ten years, before opening his own atelier in Piazza di Spagna in 1974. After establishing himself in haute couture, he introduced the label’s first women’s prêt-à-porter collection in 1979. The brand later broadened its offer, with knitwear and children’s lines recorded in 1982 alongside jeans, accessories, perfume, and other licensed categories. Its visual language brings Italian tradition together with an audacious contemporary approach, expressed through distinctive prints, refined tailoring, black-and-white contrasts, optical effects, stripes, spots, and daring construction. Early recognition included the 1967 Maschera d’Argento for haute couture, as well as the Singer award in New York and the Pittsburgh award in 1973.
