Fragrance house
Rochas
Founded in Paris by Marcel Rochas in 1925, Rochas began as a couture house shaped by the motto “elegance, simplicity and youth.” Its early design language included three-quarter coats, square shoulders, and the Bird dress. The house entered perfumery in 1936 with Air Jeune, Audace, and Avenue Matignon, and Marcel later dedicated Femme to his wife and muse, Hélène Rochas. After his death in 1955, Hélène took over the company and developed it as a luxury perfume brand, introducing Madame Rochas in 1960, Monsieur Rochas in 1969, and Eau de Rochas in 1970. Eau de Rochas is described as a lasting classic that has represented the house for five decades, while Femme remains part of its heritage fragrance line. In 2015, Interparfums acquired the Rochas trademarks and brand names for fashion and fragrance and cosmetics from Procter & Gamble, bringing both activities under its ownership. The fashion house continued to evolve when Alessandro Vigilante took over women’s wear in 2023 and presented his first Paris Fashion Week collection for Fall/Winter 2024–25.
