Fragrance house
Rock & Republic
Rock & Republic was founded in Los Angeles in 2002 by Michael Ball and Andrea Bernholtz as a denim brand. Ball served as head designer and shaped its rock-and-roll image, while the label’s identity combined rebellion, glamour, and rock styling. It later broadened into a fashion and design house with ready-to-wear, shoes, makeup, and fragrance lines. In April 2010, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, with reporting at the time describing an intended refocus on apparel and footwear. VF Corporation acquired the brand’s trademarks and related intellectual property in March 2011. Rock & Republic was included in Kontoor Brands when VF spun off its Jeans business in 2019, alongside Wrangler and Lee. Kontoor completed the sale of the Rock & Republic brand and associated business on March 3, 2026.
