Royal Doulton

Royal Doulton grew from a business that initially specialized in utilitarian stoneware, including storage jars, drain pipes, and sanitary ware, before expanding into artistic pottery and tableware. In 1871, Henry Doulton established a studio at the Lambeth pottery and developed links with the Lambeth School of Art, bringing artists and designers into production. Its twentieth-century ceramic identity included decorative figurines and Character Jugs, alongside the Pretty Lady figurines introduced through the HN Series in 1913 and Bunnykins nurseryware, which began in 1934. During the 2010s, Royal Doulton’s design direction centered on London’s urban culture and eclectic style; the 1815 collection launched in 2012, followed by a renewed brand in 2020. Fiskars completed its acquisition of WWRD in July 2015, transferring Royal Doulton into its portfolio. Today, Royal Doulton is presented as a tableware and lifestyle brand rooted in design history, everyday dining, and handcrafted ceramic details.
