Royal Secret
Royal Secret originated as a Germaine Monteil fragrance before becoming a separate brand. Germaine Monteil, founded in 1936, built its identity around the connection between haute couture and beauty, a heritage that forms the backdrop to Royal Secret’s early history. By 1960, the name had expanded into a scented beauty collection through the Royal Secret Beauty Bath range, offered in formats including bath products, lotion, mist, powder, and spray perfume. Five Star Fragrances acquired Royal Secret from Coty in 1997 and developed it as a standalone brand. Its portfolio subsequently included Royal Secret II in 1999 and Royal Secret for Men in 2000, extending the name beyond its original women’s fragrance. Corporate filings documented Five Star Fragrance Company as the brand’s owner by 2014 within the Perfumania Holdings and Quality King structure. The original Royal Secret remains the name’s clearest fragrance reference: a chypre-floral scent directly connected to the later brand.
