Royall Fragrances
Royall Fragrances was founded around expressing Bermuda’s identity overseas, with a line of gentlemen’s toiletries and grooming aids carrying that message. Anthony J. Gaade, a Bermudian yachtsman and international-race competitor, brought the first Royall fragrance to market in 1957. Royall Lyme, introduced that year, was presented at Brooks Brothers in New York in 1960 and was followed by international expansion. The fragrance remains the brand’s original signature, built around West Indian lime and a Caribbean-derived formula. Bermuda-related elements associated with Gaade’s original concept—including crown-and-lime bottle embossing, parchment wrapping, and wax seals—have been retained in its visual identity. The ROYALL LYME trademark was registered in Canada in 1965; a 2017 assignment later transferred that mark from Royall Lyme (Bermuda) Limited to Royall Lyme Fragrances LLC, which the current record lists as owner.
