Ruth Mastenbroek

Ruth Mastenbroek is an independent, family-run British fragrance house based in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. In 2003, Ruth Mastenbroek launched Fragosmic Ltd., her independent perfumery company; the eponymous fragrance line followed in 2010 with Signature. Ruth studied chemistry at Oxford University and trained as a perfumer in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France and Japan, after formulating fragrances and scented products for brands including Kenneth Turner and Jo Malone. The house’s creative identity uses perfume to tell stories about life, personal experiences and emotions, accompanied by visual illustrations. Its approach combines classical perfumery with creative freedom, retaining a chemistry-based technical foundation while allowing for artistic expression. Signature, the founding fragrance and Ruth’s stated proudest creation, is a modern chypre inspired by that freedom. In 2017, Firedance became a finalist for three Fragrance Foundation Awards. In 2024, London Dusk marked a collaboration between Ruth and her son Nic.
