s.Oliver

s.Oliver began in 1969, when Bernd Freier opened a 25-square-metre menswear boutique in Würzburg under the name “Sir Oliver.” Following a trademark dispute with fragrance manufacturer 4711 in 1978, the brand changed its name to s.Oliver, with the new trademark registered the next year. In 1997, it expanded from fashion into lifestyle products through licensing and additional collections, an orientation identified as a continuing core element of the group. Bernd Freier took over comma in 2001, and the S.OLIVER GROUP added LIEBESKIND BERLIN to its portfolio in 2011. In 2016, the group adopted a multi-brand structure with a holding company. For its 50th anniversary in 2019, s.Oliver used the Madras pattern associated with its early history in a campaign and collection. A comprehensive relaunch in 2021 introduced a new logo and framed the public brand story around fashion for everyday life and real-life experiences. Today, the operating entity is s.Oliver Bernd Freier GmbH & Co. KG, registered in Rottendorf, Germany.
