Fragrance house
S3
S3 traces its history to Legrain, founded in Bucharest in 1915 by Simon Moscovici and Isaac Manole. During the Second World War, the Legrain family relocated to Barcelona in 1943, where the business resumed activity. Although Legrain used French-sounding branding and Parisian associations, it was not based in Paris. S3 was created in 1954 as a light, fresh, gender-neutral cologne for everyday use in postwar Spain. During the 1960s and 1970s, it became closely associated with Spanish family and household fragrance culture. Its defining olfactory identity is a fresh, citrus-led cologne linked with cleanliness, innocence, and family unity. Ownership changed in 1985, when Enrique Legrain sold the company to Akzo; the business later passed through Sara Lee and was acquired by Unilever in 2010. In 2022, Sensogreen acquired S3 from Unilever, returning the brand to Spanish ownership.
