Sabon
Sabon was founded in 1997 by childhood friends Avi Piatok and Sigal Kotler-Levy, who opened the first shop on Tel Aviv’s Shenkin Street under the name “Soap of Once.” The business began with fresh, handmade soap based on a 70-year-old Australian recipe before expanding into body care and home care. Its first international store opened in New York’s West Village in 2003, followed by launches in Italy, Japan, France, and Spain. Groupe Rocher acquired Sabon in 2016 and currently presents it as one of its group brands. The brand’s identity combines Dead Sea minerals and Mediterranean botanicals with traditional recipes and an artisanal, sensory bathing ritual. Sabon’s fragrance legacy includes Patchouli-Lavender-Vanilla, created in 1997 by co-founder Avi Piatok and used across the body ritual. In 2022, the scent marked Sabon’s 25th anniversary through a collector’s edition created with Israeli illustrator Gabriella Barouch.
