Salvador Dali
Salvador Dalí’s fragrance project began on 17 December 1982, when Jean-Pierre Grivory negotiated a worldwide perfumery licence with the artist. The first fragrance, Dali le Parfum, launched in Paris in 1983 and reached international perfumeries in 1985. Dalí designed its first bottle around the lips and nose of Aphrodite in his 1981 painting and specified a rose-and-jasmine-centered scent, framing the concept as a fusion of art and perfumery. The line uses sculptural bottles and motifs drawn from Dalí’s work, with the lips-and-nose design as its best-known packaging signature. Historically, Grivory’s Cofci, later Cofinluxe, was responsible for the fragrance line; today, Les Parfums Salvador Dali is listed among Création Beauté International’s niche and selective fragrance brands. After Dalí’s death in 1989, the brand continued developing art-led collections, including the Fabulous Collection in 2011 and the Daligramme Collection in 2017. Among its defining fragrance examples are the debut scent and Laguna, launched in 1991 and described in 2014 as a major success that was still being sold at the time.
