Salvatore Ferragamo
In 1923, Salvatore Ferragamo opened the Hollywood Boot Shop after following the film studios to Hollywood, establishing an early connection with cinema clients. Four years later, he incorporated his first Florence-based company, dedicated to women’s footwear. After Ferragamo died in 1960, his wife Wanda took over, and the family expanded the business beyond footwear into leather goods, ready-to-wear, silk, accessories, and menswear. A museum devoted to the company’s shoes and history opened in Florence in 1995. Ferragamo Parfums was incorporated in 1997 with Bulgari as a joint-venture partner; Ferragamo acquired Bulgari’s entire holding in 2001. The company completed its initial public offering on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2011. In 2021, it announced negotiations for an exclusive worldwide fragrance license with Interparfums. Maximilian Davis became creative director in 2022; his first direction introduced a new presentation name, logo treatment, and distinctive red house color. Across its products, Ferragamo links style, creativity, and innovation with quality and Made in Italy craftsmanship.
