Sarah Horowitz Parfums

Sarah Horowitz-Thran began designing custom fragrances in the late 1980s while studying at Emerson College and apprenticing at Essence, an apothecary-style perfumery in Boston. After nearly four years at Essence, she purchased the store, sold her stake in 1994, and moved to Los Angeles, where she founded Creative Scentualization; the business later developed into Sarah Horowitz Parfums. The brand’s identity centers on custom, personalized fragrance through The Fragrance Journey, an intuitive process intended to make scent a form of personal expression. Its work spans the Perfect Perfumes, Evolution Perfumes, Perfumer’s Palette, and What Comes From Within lines, alongside custom and private-label projects. Horowitz-Thran’s fragrance design work has included kai, IF, Bronzed for Ron Robinson, and limited-edition Urban Decay fragrances. Perfect Perfumes is built around nature-identical florals and reinterpretations of classic fragrance profiles, with Perfect Veil gaining an immediate following and national press attention after its release. In 2021, Sarah Horowitz Parfums was owned by its founder, and by June that year it had become the authorized vendor for Nectarine fragrance oils.
