Fragrance house
Saravel
Saravel was a New York-based U.S. perfume company whose documented fragrance range began with Sables and Pearls and Perfidia in 1935, followed by releases including Nuance, Touchant, Sirocco, Morocco, Jesebel, and White Christmas through 1953. Its public identity was associated with fragrances presented as French or made with French essences, although White Christmas was blended for Saravel in New York and used domestic and imported French concentrate at different points. First used by Saravel in 1943, White Christmas received Vogue advertising in September 1953 under the name “White Christmas by Saravel.” Ownership of this key fragrance asset changed during the mid-1950s: in February 1956, Harsam Distributors purchased the formula, trademark, Saravel trade name, and related materials, becoming its sole owner and distributor. Court records also document assignments of the White Christmas trademark, label, and associated goodwill in 1955 and 1957.
