Scannon

Scannon emerged in 1966 as a new subsidiary of The Mennen Company, linked to the Kanon men’s fragrance and toiletry line. In 1972, it entered a ten-year agreement with Gucci for Gucci fragrances, renewed in 1982. During the 1980s, Mennen acquired the Scannon Fragrance Group; Colonia Inc., later Muelhens Inc., subsequently acquired Scannon and its Gucci-fragrance interests. Wella acquired Muelhens in 1994, bringing Scannon and the Gucci fragrance business into its group. Scannon’s fragrance history is particularly associated with Kanon, the men’s scent launched in 1966 and later continued in a successor version based on the original. In April 2026, Fundamental Brands announced an agreement to acquire Great American Beauty and its licensing subsidiary, Palm Beach Beauté, affecting the successor portfolio associated with Kanon.
