Fragrance house
Scent Journer
Scent Journer launched in 2021 after founder Joyce Lian left banking during the COVID-19 period to join a venture-building programme hosted by the National University of Singapore and supported by Enterprise Singapore. Incubated under NUS Enterprise, the Singapore-based perfume house focuses on regional botanicals and fragrances suited to humid Asian conditions. Lian, who serves as founder and creative director, studied perfumery and cosmetic science at Singapore Polytechnic, earned a chemistry degree from NUS in 2019, and gained industry experience at International Flavors & Fragrances and Symrise. Scent Journer’s creative identity is expressed through “mindful perfumes” designed for everyday self-care and mood-related use, informed by consumer interviews and fragrance research. Its fragrance legacy includes Clouds in Heaven, part of the original launch line-up and identified as one of the brand’s best-sellers, with a pandan note inspired by pandan chiffon cake. The fourth perfume, A Starlit Spell, introduced upcycled eugenol made from discarded clove-tree leaves.
