Scentbird

Scentbird was founded by Mariya Nurislamova, Sergei Gusev, Andrei Rebrov, and Rachel ten Brink after Nurislamova moved to New York and began a scent blog in early 2013. It began as a scent-recommendation platform and became a subscription service after early users asked to sample the fragrances they were shown. By 2017, the company had expanded into Deck of Scarlet, a makeup subscription service, while planning offerings in home fragrance and personal care. In May 2022, Scentbird introduced a modernized identity with new typography, textures, a neutral palette, and a minimal monogram, framing the redesign around self-expression and fragrance discovery. That October, it acquired Drift, a car-air-freshener business; the brands kept separate subscription models. In 2024, Nurislamova described Scentbird as having returned to a fragrance-focused identity after exploring broader beauty categories. Its identity is centered on fragrance discovery and sampling rather than a single signature scent or dominant olfactory family.
