Fragrance house
Scorpio
Created in France in 1989 by the Coparel group, Scorpio began as a men’s eau-de-toilette brand for mass retail. Its launch fragrance, Rouge, was developed with designer Pierre Dinand and major perfume houses, while Dinand also contributed to the bottle design. The brand’s visual language links masculine fragrance and seduction with the scorpion symbol, flames, and a tattooed couple. Henkel acquired Scorpio in 1992, and Labori International acquired the brand in 2021 after Henkel decided to leave the fragrance business within its Beauty Care portfolio. Scorpio broadened its fragrance line with Vertigo in 1998, Inferno in 2004, Noir Absolu in 2006, and Gold and Scandalous in 2012. In 2016, Scorpio Night received the Fragrance Foundation France public award for best men’s fragrance in mass retail; the following year, the Collection line brought together Sport, Night, and Gold. Rouge remains the clearest fragrance reference in Scorpio’s history, identified as its emblematic scent and associated with an aromatic-fougère profile.
