Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez founded Rare Beauty, which was publicly announced on February 4, 2020. The brand was built around a vision of connecting makeup with mental-health support, and its identity emphasizes self-acceptance, individuality, and mental well-being while challenging unrealistic standards of perfection. It also established the Rare Impact Fund. In 2024, a reported sale process was put on hold without a completed sale; by 2025, Rare Beauty remained privately owned, with Gomez still materially involved in product development and impact work. Gomez’s fragrance history began with an eponymous scent announced in 2011 through an exclusive global license, with a spring 2012 release planned; that agreement ended in 2013. Rare Eau de Parfum is Rare Beauty’s first fine fragrance and marked her return to fragrance after the 2012 scent. It belongs to the warm-and-spicy fragrance family.
