Fragrance house
Sephora
Founded in Limoges, France, in 1969 by Dominique Mandonnaud, Sephora developed a self-service approach to beauty retail. The model invited customers to touch, smell, test, and explore products freely rather than relying solely on traditional staffed perfume counters. After LVMH acquired the business, Sephora expanded its European network and reached the United States in 1998; its online presence began in 1999. In 1995, the company introduced products under its own name, a line later developed as Sephora Collection. Today, Sephora brings together curated partner brands and Sephora Collection across fragrance, makeup, skincare, haircare, and related categories, with a public identity centered on discovery, inclusion, experimentation, and personalized omnichannel beauty retail.
