Serendipity 3
Serendipity 3 was opened in New York in 1954 by three friends—Calvin Holt, Stephen Bruce, and Patch Carradine. The founders initially combined an antique shop with a café before developing it into a full restaurant, whose identity was shaped by whimsical décor, an eclectic menu, celebrity associations, and elaborate desserts, particularly its Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. Serendipity 3 also became associated with the 2001 film Serendipity and the film One Fine Day, extending its presence into popular cinema. In 2000, the brand began introducing chocolate-themed beauty products, including body lotion, bubble bath, foot cream, and shampoo, before entering perfume. Its fragrance entry, Serendipitous, centers on cocoa, Tahitian vanilla, and blood orange, connecting the scent to Serendipity 3’s chocolate-and-dessert identity. A 2014 trademark filing records the SERENDIPITY marks in use for personal-care products including perfume, alongside restaurant and food products.
