Shane Warne
Shane Warne was an Australian cricketer and right-arm leg-spin bowler, born in Ferntree Gully on 13 September 1969. His public identity was built primarily on international cricket, including 145 Test matches and 708 Test wickets. In 2020, the Shane Warne name entered fragrance through SW23, a partnership with Chemist Warehouse; its name combined Warne’s initials with the number 23 associated with his Australian cricket career. Warne helped shape the fragrance brief by selecting favourite fragrances, explaining his preferences, and testing sample formulations for about a month. SW23 was released as a woody men’s Eau de Toilette with citrus, aromatic, woody and leather accords. Editorial coverage calls it Warne’s signature scent and reports that its sell-out release led to a second collaboration, SW23 Sport. The launch also supported My Room, a Melbourne children’s cancer charity, with reported profits directed to the cause. After Warne’s death in March 2022, the Shane Warne Legacy developed as a philanthropic identity focused on health awareness and free cardiometabolic health checks.
