The Stéphane Humbert Lucas fragrance house was created in 2012 by its namesake founder, Stéphane Humbert Lucas. A painter and poet, Lucas approaches composition synesthetically, associating colours with smells, while the house presents perfume as an artistic form influenced by painting, literature and music. Its first collection, La Collection 777, was launched the same year and drew on Lucas’s travels in the Middle East and his spiritual interpretation of the Orient. The collection’s identity also reflects symbolic meanings associated with the number seven, including luck, protection, peace, perfection, happiness and wisdom. In 2022, the house introduced La Collection Serpent, an evolution built around stories, myths and legends surrounding the snake across cultures. La Collection 777 remains the clearest expression of the house’s Middle Eastern and spiritually themed creative foundation, while Black Gemstone is one of Lucas’s own particular favourites.
