Siam 1928

Siam 1928 traces its heritage to 1928, when the traditional Thai fragrance Num-Ob Prung Chaokhun began being produced and sold through the family’s Thippaya O-Sotsathan shop in Bangkok. Hunyin Buntam Boriraknitikasetr, who had served in the royal household associated with King Rama IV before leaving to establish the family business, created the fragrance. It has used the same formula for more than 90 years, remains sold in Thailand, and is the family shop’s biggest bestseller and a traditional ritual fragrance. In 2018–2019, fourth-generation family perfumer Nutt Wesshasartar developed Siam 1928’s modern wearable fragrance concept, and he and third-generation successor Karnchana Wesshasartar established Thippaya O-Sotsathan Co., Ltd. in April 2019. The brand draws on Thai poems, folk tales, literature, history, legends and traditions for its fragrance concepts, packaging and accompanying poetry. Its ceramic bottles and packaging won Thailand’s 2020 National Design Excellence Award. In 2024, Siam 1928 introduced Nilakarnch, linking its fragrance and black ceramic bottle design to Thai literature, legends and Karnchana Wesshasartar’s legacy. In 2025, Mekha Aranya won an Art and Olfaction Award in the Artisan category.
