Fragrance house
SLM
SLM, presented as Sous le Manteau, was founded in 2016 by Olivia Bransbourg after she encountered historical love-potion recipes in an old book. Its concept translates those formulas into contemporary fragrances, treating perfume as a modern continuation of recipes once transmitted in secret. Bransbourg had previously founded the arts and fashion magazine ICONOfly in 2006 and launched Attache-Moi in 2009. Before concentrating on her own fragrance house, she worked on perfume-creation projects at Takasago and served as creative director of its New York laboratory. Nathalie Feisthauer reworked the historical recipes for contemporary wear and became a central creative collaborator in the brand’s development. The concept was presented through five love-potion-inspired fragrances at Paris’s Nuit Blanche arts festival in 2016, alongside a fragrance-matching experience. SLM later described its offer as six elixirs. Its fragrance identity rests on a collection inspired by love potions and aphrodisiac formulas, adapting historical medical and officinal recipes rather than centering on one signature scent. In 2020, Sous le Manteau won the Fragrance Foundation UK Newcomer Award.
