Fragrance house
Slumberhouse
Slumberhouse was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 2008 by Josh Lobb. The project began as a collective involving Lobb and friends before becoming his personal fragrance brand. A self-taught perfumer, Lobb uses natural and synthetic materials as each composition requires, and he has described Slumberhouse as an intentionally independent, DIY practice free of a fixed luxury or lifestyle identity. Music is integral to his creative process: black metal informed Norne’s dark, poetic, nocturnal, forest-like atmosphere. Across the range, Lobb identified a deep, dark, sweet, smoky character, with tobacco appearing in nearly all the fragrances except Norne. Pear + Olive was a defining commercial success in his 2012 account, having outsold his other fragrances. By 2013, Slumberhouse was characterized as a small Portland artisan house led solely by Lobb, with a core collection following the discontinuation or reformulation of earlier releases.
