Soie Malaquaise
Soie Malaquais is a fragrance from the Dries Van Noten fashion house rather than a standalone brand. Dries Van Noten launched his first menswear collection in Antwerp in 1986; the house presented its first menswear collection at Paris Fashion Week in 1991 and its first womenswear show there in 1993. Its creative identity is associated with contrasts in color, texture, and fabric, while Van Noten was also part of the Antwerp Six collective. The house entered beauty in 2022 with a fragrance and makeup line that included 12 gender-fluid fragrances. Soie Malaquais launched that year as part of the offering and was created by perfumer Marie Salamagne. Its concept connects silk and chestnut, reflecting the tactile quality of silk dresses associated with the house’s Paris boutique on Quai Malaquais. In 2023, the house opened Galerie Quai Malaquais in Paris for fragrance, beauty, and accessories. Van Noten presented his final collection as creative director in June 2024 and stepped down from the role while remaining involved with the house. Soie Malaquais is an emblematic fragrance of the house.
